One Kid Wrecking Crew

I am writing this blog using Windows Live Writer, I still don’t know if I like it yet, it seems like the usual pretty Microsoft Utility except this time its purpose built for writing blogs off line and then uploading them to your blog when you have the chance. It is intended for Windows Live Space but can be used for most Blog hosts. You can insert pictures into your post from an on-line host such as photobucket, image shack or from were ever you keep your pictures… Including your own hard drive, meaning that you dont need to have an account with an on-line picture holding host if you dont want to and just upload the picture to your blog directly from your hard drive… I like this little feature alot. There is nothing worse than having to upload your picture to a host then copy the link into your blog (Erm actually, thinking about it there are loads of things worse than this). instead you can just click insert from the tool bar and select weather you want to post a pic from online or from your hard drive.. Mind you BlogDesk can do this as well so it isnt something new. The one thing I dont like with Windows Writer is that it doesn’t automatically ping and servers for you unlike BlogDesk.
Before I get on with the actual reason I am writing this. I found this house when I was out and about this morning as soon as I saw it I remembered Scribblers rant about things that piss him off and mainly Christmas Lights, of course I had to take a picture.
Just think of the amount of energy this house will be using over the festive season Scribbler, I have no doubts at all that there will be many other houses I will pass which will be throwing air-bound traffic off their course during the next few weeks. Still, just think. This time next month it will all be over bar the hangovers, then five days later it will be my birthday, though I would rather not go there as I will be hitting the grand ol` age of 40. (while im on the subject of my birthday if there are any WordPress Staff reading this, I wouldnt mind having my blog site given its own .com domain as a birthday pressy if you know what I mean hint, hint. I am trying to talk my wife round but I dont think she is taking the hint soooo its up to you guys). Well thats about the end of this paragraph, I have managed to wrap the text quite well around the picture and I think it looks ok. Looking at the way Windows writer has set the picture over on the left I could gt to like this, the picture has been inserted nice and tidy, I like the little shadow effect to the right of the picture as well, very posh.
Now to the Subject in hand, The One Kid Wrecking Crew aka Conor my four year old son. Last night I packed him off to bed at about 8pm and came down stairs to help my eldest with his homework, later when Calum went to bed he shouted down stairs to tell me that Conor has a felt tip pen and had drew on his hands, I shouted back up to him to go to bed and stop trying to get his little brother into trouble, what I didnt know is that Conor had also drew on his face, arms, feet, legs and his bedroom wall all with a perminent felt tip pen. I didnt find this out until Tracy had came in from work while Conor was sat, back against wall with his arms out stretched trying to hide his handy work and trying to hide his arms at the same time. Now bearing in mind that Tracy had spent all the day before tidying Conors room well she was not best pleased, neather of us were. Anywas Conor was tok back to the bathroom for his second bath that night, I managed to get all the ink off him but the walls are another storey. This morning We had a flood, I was not there to see who caused it but neadless to say both taps in the bathroom sink were turned to full, the plug was put in and the sink was left. Calum turned off the taps and pulled out the plug when he went up to get his Gameboy from is room. The bathroom was flooded, luckely it seems to have all been surface water and none has got under the floor.. we think.
Now to the latest in the saga of me trying to run Linux on my computer alongside windows I downloaded KNOPPIX and managed to get a blank dvd from my brother in law so i could burn it, but “Windows Encountered an error while trying to copy this folder” Bollocks i thought and went out yesterday and bought a different brand of dvd, thinking Johns disks were duff..
But no, the same error. (After abusing the left mouse button quite badly by pressing is countless times in quick succession while hovering my mouse corser over the retry option I gave up and clicked one time on cancel which stopped everything. I manages to track the error back to the fact that my CD/DVD ROM drive is a dvd+/-RW DL Multiformat Drive lite-on dvdrw sohw-1633s which it seems does have issues writing on “most” types of DVD, just my luck, and no matter were I look I can not find the firmware which will update the drive so that it will copy, seems like I am doomed not to be able to play with Linux, so I think I will just forget about it now. Didnt want to try Linux anyway, I just thought I did.
(Note: After Posting this blog I deleted it and re-done it using BlogDesk so that the post would ping the relevant servers and so the pictures were bigger, though figuring out how to wrap the text around the pictures did take a bit of digging around. If i am honest I think i will be uninstalling Windows Live Writer in favour of BlogDesk.)

Windows doesn’t have DVD burning support so if you’re trying to copy the files from the ISO to the ‘CD drive’ in Windows Explorer it will never work. You need 3rd party DVD burning software to burn DVDs in Windows.
